Our carrier-neutral colocation facilities enable customers to avoid dependency on a single carrier and to receive competitive pricing on carrier-services. Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Colo Solutions Colocation Facility?
A secure and environmentally controlled facility strategically located within a mile of one or more major telecommunications carriers. The facility provides leasable space and lockable data/ telecommunications cabinets. The environment is kept at a constant 70 ° F and monitored for fire, security, and temperature. Unescorted 24x7 access is accommodated via proximity cards and/or entering a security code on an external touch pad. All entrants are recorded and an audit trail is maintained.
Who Needs Colocation?
Telephone Service Providers (CLEC, ILEC, RBOC, etc.), Internet Service Providers (ISPs), voicemail companies, large corporate businesses doing web based offerings, specialized telecommunications applications or internet related applications. Any customer needing large quantities of circuits with dial tone, transport, or internet connectivity.
Is the Location of the Facility Important?
The locations of these facilities are essential. One of the first characteristics sought is to be as close to a major carrier (i.e. MCI, Sprint, Time Warner Telecom, BellSouth, etc.) as possible. These carriers have strategically placed POP (Point of Presence) site facilities throughout many major cities to deliver dial tone and network services to that city. These POP sites also allow the different carriers to interconnect with each other (i.e. MCI and Time Warner, usually via their fiber optic networks). Hence, placing your equipment in a strategically located Colo Solutions facility will allow you to economically cross-connect your network to your choice of carriers.
What are the benefits of using a Colo Solutions colocation facility?
One of the major benefits of our colocation facilities is their strategic location, enabling our customers to avoid local loop fees. A carrier typically does not charge a local loop fee if the customer's equipment is in a colocation facility less than a mile away from the carrier's POP site. For equipment located more than a mile away from the carrier's POP site a local loop fee is charged that can range from $100-$1000 per month on each circuit, depending on distance.
Another major benefit is the presence of major carriers within close proximity to Colo Solutions facilities. These carriers already have equipment and cabling in place, thus eliminating the need for digging and installation costs that the carrier passes on to the customer. This also provides a variety of carrier options to the customer.
